One of the bearings is too tall
I bought this kit to replace the steering stem bearings on my 1975 Yamaha DT 400. These are supposed to replace the loose ball between two races style of stem bearings. The bottom bearing seems to be the same size as the original, but the top bearing is taller than the original by more than 1/8 inch. this causes the nut on the top triple to catch by only a few threads (and several other problems). I had to reuse the original top bearing after buying new balls for it. I'm not sure how this is considered a direct replacement when there is a size difference!

These bearings require machining of the lower triple clamp. In order for the upper adjusting nut to have the same amount of threads contacting the steering stem. Does not fit directly as the original ball rollers...

nice fit
these bearings fit very well. the bearing and race fit nicely. some tapping with a drift to get them to seat was needed and preload was achieved easily the same way as the previous ball bearings were.
