Everything from engine management to emissions controls, and all the passenger amenities are new and constantly evolving technologies, yet most people are still using lead acid batteries which were invented in the mid 19th century. Lithium batteries have less self discharge, no memory and cycle schedules, do not suffer from sulfation, and can provide very high currents, making them ideal for cold starting engines. On a motorcycle, weight is also a huge concern, and the lithium battery only weighs a fraction of its lead acid counterpart.
