Perfect fit on my 1998 Ford Ranger!
I was forced to replace the OEM shift knob on my '98 Ford Ranger about 6-8 years ago. The local Ford dealer wanted way too much $$$ for a replacement so I bought a "universal" shift knob from my local auto parts store. It wasn't a perfect fit, and I never liked the feel of it, but it did the job. I finally decided that it was time to replace it and I found this Ford OEM shift knob replacement at a very good price. I thought it was too good to be true, but I purchased it anyway. When I got it, the shift knob slid on tightly to the shift stick. I used a rubber mallet to pound the shift knob more snugly. The OEM shift knob is a really nice size for my hand and comfortable to grip when shifting. I wish I had purchased this much earlier.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

They have an extended selection process to see if it will fit your model. I used it but it didn’t fit. Perhaps it was OEM but it bore no resemblance to my original that came with my truck when I bought it from the dealership. Excellent Shift Knob A+++++
I have 360,000 miles on my 1998 Ford Explorer Sport 2 Door. The original shift knob came loose years ago and I put a generic shifter on from a local parts place. It has been ok and then I saw this on EBay. What a difference in comfort, feel and better shifting due to the weight of the knob. Bought for 2000 ranger, worked good.the old one was completely worn out inside and wouldn’t stay on. This one is much heavier feeling solid rubber I think. I hit it on with a hammer and it feels solid. I don’t think it went on quite as far as the original so there is a gap between the knob and the shift boot. I had just got this truck so I don’t really know if it was like that with the old one or not though.
