This is an excellent flash for the price. I'm an amateur photographer and this was my first external flash; I didn't want to break the bank with a Canon flash and tried the Yongno. Overall I was pleasantly surprised with the performance and results using this flash. The E-TTL worked as expected on my old Canon Rebel XS DSLR with a variety of lenses. Pivoting of the flash head works well for bouncing off walls and ceilings. The flash recycles quick enough for me with good quality batteries. I would recommend this flash for the amateur photographer who wants to control their flash without breaking the bank with a canon flash. It is excellent performance for the price!

The pro: price, decent light. Used it only one evening (~100 shots) in an event. The quality of the photos with this flash is mostly good. It's pretty easy to take a good shot with it. The cons: The day after the flash died. It turnes on and the red light indicating flash ready. But when I take the shot the flash won't fire. making the photo dark. tried to change the battaries - didn't help. I guess you get what you pay for, next time i'll buy the original product

This flash is excelent, It respond very well in all their modes, the only problem i fonund, is when using ni-mh batteries, when whe batteries are almost dead, the flash start doing wrong things, like fire randomly and making strange noises with the zoom head, it should just turn off or inform about low batteries, but everything els is great. On full power the power distribution in time is far away from constant, but in 1/4 and less is perfect. I bought this product to use in social photography, bouncing flash in ttl mode, it were great for small and large rooms. I didnt have any problem in slave mode neither.
I bought first, by having a good price , what I like best and high-speed sync , what I like least and lack of external power and the lack of a manual in Portuguese or espanhol.A color and slightly but incostante nothing disturbing , and well built , I'll buy two more , but it would be nice if he controlled the other flashes . Valhe every penny , very good for what you pay , recommend .I called a NikonD700 and it was very good , both on the machine in slave mode in I- TTL.Estou very happy .I want to call two more in slave mode and try a more complex lighting , but lack of external .
It is an outstanding item performance wise and value wise. I have used it several times now and am very impressed with this flash. I use two of the YN 565 EX's and one 580 EXii. I can control all of the flashes from the camera menu and for me that is a must. I would recommend this flash to anyone that is wanting a quality flash for the money. It feels the same as the 580EXii looks like it in many ways. The controls are different but easy to use. I would buy it again if the need arises again.
I bought the YN-565EX to help out with my photography. I bought this sppedlite for my Canon 650D/T4i. I have used this many times since receiving it and thought of sharing my thoughts about it. I have used both the YN 565-EX and the Canon 580 EX-II, so I have compared the two in most situations. Things i like about it - ETTL slave function, Very cost effective compared to the Canon 580 EX-II. You get the best for every dollar paid, It is almost identical to the Canon 580 EX-II, Wireless firing from my Canon 650D body, The free diffuser that is provided by this seller (hkyongnuophotoequipment), The durable case the speedlite comes in, The 1 year warranty that is provided for the speedlite flash, Easy-to-use user interface, It is compatible with most new Canon D-SLR bodies so you can control the flash settings via the camera itself, The speedlite seems to be well-built. No sounds of pieces moving around inside the flash when you shake it, seems steady both inside and outside. What i dislike - It is a bit loose once i mount and tighten it onto my hot-shoe, tends to move around slightly, Not weather proof, No master flash function. Since this is the best flash produced by YongNuo you would expect it to have the master flash function but this is not available in this model, Not as durable as the Canon 580 EX-II. I have not come across any problems up to now. So if the need arises for me to purchase this speedlite again i would definitely do so. I would recommend this flash to any photographer who has a tight budget since this is a good substitute for the Canon 580 EX-II.Read full review
Short preface: My wife is fond of photography and has in the arsenal of inexpensive DSLRs Nikon 3100. Along with its principal place of work she regularly earns that removes various weddings, corporate parties and other celebrations. Since the bulk of shooting going on in the room, just good flash is vital, and the same Nikon SB600 ex costs already obscenely expensive. Taking the initiative in their hands began wool online for cheap, but the most functional flash. The company produces a range of Yongnuo flashes for DSLRs from Nikon and Canon, having estimated the "pros" and "cons" decided to focus on the most advanced models from this manufacturer Yongnuo YN-565EX. Came here this box. Inside was a very comfortable cover made in the image and likeness of herself Nikon flash: Flash collected in the case, strikingly reminiscent of housing Nikon SB600. I have used this flash to make a variety of shots, from outside night action to studio still portraits. I have found it very accommodating as a bounce flash with the incredible range of motion allowed both horizontally and vertically. The built-in flash deflector is a wonderful tool that assist in fill flash without the harsh white-out effect. I have not used the flash as a slave as of yet, but with the settings available on the digital screen readouts, there should not be an issue there either. The flash body is sturdy without being bulky. The metal shoe adds a very nice attachment point and allows the flash to be easy secured to the camera body without the feeling of breaking it off. The flash is designed so rechargeable batteries may be used or an external battery pack may be connected as well.Read full review
Have had a pair of these (Canon version) for about 2 weeks now - for those who don't know they are YN's 'equivalent' of the 580EXII I ran a number of tests and have also used them for a number of focus stacking (60+) shots (which will show up any output variation - found no problem). For ETTL they cannot be a master - only a slave- you'll need a Canon flash (in built works too!) or an ST-E2. On camera they have full ETTL capabilities, including camera based control. Optical Slave trigger in both S1 and S2 very reliable (S2 avoids trigger from ETTL preflash ). Output- very consistent at about 1/10 of a stop below a 580EXII at all power levels - so the 565 designation seems about right (although manual says GN58/ISO110/105mm). Flash duration - did a 'real world' test of a spinning fan - couldn't pick the difference against a 580EXII (others using flash measuring tools concur) Recycle - same as the 580 using Eneloops/NiMH 2500 Features - everything the 580EXII has except for HS Sync emoticon - sad, and Master mode. But they do have a more tunable auto-off feature set, plus they have choice of audible feed back and of course optical slave trigger emoticon - grin I have 2 580EXII's and a bunch of YN 560's, for interiors I often use 6 flashes , these 565's are very nice - I'll be buying another pair. Oh BtW - I forgot to mention that in Wireless Slave mode you can set them to be triggered/controlled by BOTH Canon and Nikon units 'cn' setting (not sure how this works) or just Canon 'c' or Nikon 'n'. i.e. you can also use a Nikon S900/800/700 or c-commander All that for about 1/3 the price a 580EXIIRead full review
The flash works great with the Canon PowerShot SX50 HS camera (I have a type C camera from the CHDK). Even at manual mode too. And you can control the flash in the camera menu. Robust design, but very heavy (compared to the camera). From a low viewpoint you can't really see what is in the screen, but not a big problem.
