PSYCHOMANCER's Shards Of The Hourglass is a solid and consistent Death Metal album all the way through and is also greatly produced. It kicks off with The Unsullied. The vocals are clear and the pace is high. The overall balance progresses well with different styles thrown in to add depth to the song. Hell's Venom gets heads banging and feet tapping. The band have gelled their skills and sound together brilliantly. They really come into their element with a great jam mixed with screams adding a great depth to an already fantastic song. Red Poetry mixes things up to a more progressive more sludgy song. As Your Vital Signs Decline speeds things up to a frenzied pace with great melodies, hooks and different soloing techniques. The Castigator and Deto-Nation are the most aggressive tracks here. The latter shows off technical skills from the band to transition between death metal to melodic death metal styles. The mix of styles on Myrmidons help to create a solid melody to keep 'em heads banging. MK Ultra returns to the more accustomed vocal styles and great melodies. Shards Of The Hourglass closes off the album greatly. There are some nice acoustic guitars playing and the melody that follows is brilliant. PSYCHOMANCER created something of their own style by mixing different styles and it not only works, it's absolutely great too. PSYCHOMANCER's Shards Of The Hourglass brings high quality musicianship, exceptional songwriting; it is greatly produced and carries memorable songs and moments. Read full review
