The Microsoft Sculpt Touch Wireless BlueTrack Mouse provides a lot of functionality in a compact format. The optical tracking technology allows for precision movements across the screen, while the small size makes it convenient for use at home, work, or while traveling. Navigate with ease with the smooth scrolling and movement tracking. Featuring an ambidextrous design, the Microsoft Sculpt Touch mouse can be used by right- or left-handed computer operators without any discomfort. Connecting via Bluetooth technology, you do not have to dedicate any USB connections to operating the mouse. This allows you to connect more peripherals without needing a USB hub. The ergonomic design includes three primary button operations as well as four-way scrolling across the central touchpad. This allows the user to scroll vertically and horizontally without any additional button clicks or setting changes. Designed to operate on Windows and Mac computers, the Microsoft Sculpt Touch mouse is a versatile choice regardless of your preferred operating system. This includes using the mouse with the popular Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems. Bluetooth connectivity is required from the primary system to which the mouse will be connected, as well as 150 MB of free hard drive space. The Microsoft Sculpt Touch mouse measures 2.56 inches wide and 3.76 inches long, striking a unique balance between portability and sound ergonomic design. This allows the mouse to be easily transported with a laptop, while the form helps prevent physical discomfort when used for long periods. The finish of the Microsoft Sculpt Touch mouse provides a mix of pewter gray tones and silver accents, making it aesthetically appropriate for use during business hours. Black rubber side panels help provide additional grip without impacting the visual design. The light beneath the touchpad can indicate when the battery is low as well as when the mouse has been set to pairing mode. For ease, the Microsoft Sculpt Touch mouse uses two AA batteries (not included) to support its operation. One set of batteries can provide power for as long as nine months, depending on use. An on/off switch on the underside of the mouse helps you preserve power when the device is not in use, and the batteries can be changed whenever necessary through the panel release on the underside of the mouse. The larger beam associated with the BlueTrack technology allows the Microsoft Sculpt Touch mouse to be used on a wider range of surfaces and table materials when compared to traditional laser mice. Attached glide pads help the mouse move smoothly across most surfaces, providing a more comfortable and responsive experience. The touchpad also features haptic feedback, mimicking the sensations associated with a traditional scroll wheel without the need for moving parts. Three buttons can be customized to provide more control options based on your intended use of the Microsoft Sculpt Touch mouse, while the smaller shape fits comfortably in the hands of most users. Fairly good mouse, and compact
I bought this to use with a Microsoft Surface Pro 3. It paired effortlessly and is reasonably compact to suit such a compact tablet. The sensor does not track as well as my Logitech full size laser mouse on surfaces such as monocolor fabric. But it works well on desktops or a magazine. The touch scroll pad is not as precise as a conventional wheel. But again this is a lighter and more compact device. I did appreciate the sculpt touch requires no dongle and frees up the only available USB port. So with those caveats this is a good device. Not good for Windows
The mouse has great ergonomy and the teflons on the bottom are excellent, the movement is incredibly smooth. The surface scanning is perfectly precise. The downsides: - this is big one - MS Windows (7) is really not good OS to be used with bluetooth devices. When the processor is doing some heavy tasks, it struggles to move the mouse and there's a big observable lagging in the mouse movement. The mouse used to disconnect itself from the system occasionally (again mainly during extensive CPU usage), so I had to disable power saving mode for this device (yes, you have to do it manually in the devices panel). The mouse is actually unusable with Windows. None of these issues apply for OS X, but there's a small one - each time the mouse goes to some sort of sleep mode, it disconnects from the system, which triggers an on screen overlay. It can get annoying. Anyway I've moved back to my Logitech mouse for my work windows laptop and I'm using the mouse only with my MacBook. - The sleep mode - the mouse doesn't react immediately when you move it, it takes 1-2s to realize you're moving it. - The touch scroll - it gives you a feedback like you're scrolling the wheel. It's neat feature and helps the usage of it. It could be more sensitive to small movements, but that's just a detail. So this feature is great if it works. Sometimes the mouse switches the touch into some "slow" mode which means only one "wheel-step" per one swipe. You have to click the middle button to switch back to the standard mode, in which it scrolls as usual. I haven't found yet why it's doing that. I don't own it long enough yet to test the battery consumption, I hope the 6 months are real :)Verified purchase: YesCondition: Refurbished

nice compact travel mouse
