Bit Bumpy Beginning But I'm No Techie

Very nice phone for the price. If I ever switch from a prepaid plan, will be nice getting the 4G/LTE speeds. My issues were with the Verizon software: even though unlocked for ATT/T-Mobile, I ran into problems using some features like voicemail and Sync Manager because the phone tries to connect to Verizon servers. Battery life was lousy at first, but then I was working it pretty hard. Seems better in my normal (light) use. Other reviews almost all mention it's mediocre, but probably good enough for my needs. Screen is beautiful and phone is sleek. A little slippery but a cover will fix that. Beats Audio is impressive, though I almost always use Bluetooth for both speakers and headsets. Who listens to music through their phone's speakers nowadays? They sound pretty good, but come on...

    Not bad but...

The good: Processing power is good, on par with its rivals of its generation. It's aesthetically pleasing with its all aluminum body. Onboard speakers are also great as they're stereo and located on the front where the home button would normally resides, not in the back where you'd usually cover it with your hands. This seems to be the norm for HTC in general. The bad: The aluminum body is smooth and therefore slippery. It is also prone to scratches and marring though not any moreso than a plastic one. It is just more apparent when it's no longer pristine and looks worse than a comparably dinged up plastic phone. A case resolves this but one of the selling points of the M series is the thin form factor. The camera is not great compared to its competition. It's unusable in less than optimal light and still a bit grainy in ideal conditions. Battery life is poor but I can only speak of it as a used phone. You'll only be buying these used anyway. I would not buy it again given what I know now. The battery is like an iPhone in that it's not exactly user replaceable. Yes you can replace it but the battery is sandwiched between the chassis and the actual motherboard. On a scale of 1-10, it's at a 8-9, 10 being hardest. You're welcome to search it and see if it's a project you're willing to tackle. Also if you're not careful, the case can be bent, particularly around the SIM or SD card slots. If you already plan on using it with an external pack or battery case then it's a non-issue other than the added bulk of carrying either. Do your due diligence if you plan on rooting it. VZ locks their bootloader and the only way to unlock it is to pay a fee. You cannot unlock it from HTC's site like you would other HTC devices. I'm sure it was great when it was brand new but with the design flaws of the M8 after a few years, it's not a great buy if you were looking for an older top tier phone on the cheap. Look at a S4 or S5. Both will have user replaceable batteries that require no tools, have better cameras and comparable speed/power.

  • 2017 Review

Good phone for being a media player or temporary daily driver. But to handle for day to day phone use, it wears down it's owner fast. The speed is good for 4 year old phone! But the battery life kinda sucks. You can't replace the battery with ease, so what you got is what you got. If I was looking for an older daily driver, I would personally choose a Galaxy S4. That phone is easier to work with. Liter

  • Good condition aside from broken charger port

The phone works great and is in good condition aside from a broken charger port. In order to get it to charge, the charger has to be bent downward, which also causes it to take a very long time to charge. It only charged up 15% in a period of 8 hours. Sometimes it even says it is charging but will lose battery, even with all apps closed or the phone turned completely off. A cell phone repair shop is ordering a new port for me so that I can get this fixed, which will cost additional money. Other than that the phone works great and has solid battery life once it is charged.

  • great phone.

It's good, but it does not work for cricket sim cards. But the battery life is good..the speakers are great.. That is the only one thing that is bad.. Doesn't work for cricket...

  • Good deal but don't think it was new.

Stated it was a new returned item. The battery isn't new or doesn't hold a charge any better than my old htc one. The charge port/usb is very used. Meaning it's been plugged into at least a hundred times. So, I'm guessing, a used in very good shape that they tried to call new. The good is, everything works! My mic had went out on my old htc one.

  • I like it

PROS - 32G storage camera quality (Low MP BUT the ultrapixel highlight is key) lightweight HTC Sense, themes, just cool add-on features tons of accessory options CONS - if you're a small phone person, not for you aluminum backing easily marked, scuffed, and scratched (not ideal for those who are anti-case, pro-vanity)

  • Better than iPhone 5s, Samsung S5 and LG G2

The One M7 is very intuitive and simple to use. Not once did I even need to use the Owner's Manual. Without cell service, the phone alone acts as a internet browser, on Wi-Fi. The screen resolution is clear and crisp, while the photo quality is above acceptable. The boomy, surround sound Beats Audio sound quality is better than ANY iPod I ever heard. CPU speed and battery life running Android Lollipop v5.0.2 is mind-blowing. The phone does run very warm if using full time weather or GPS-related apps. I agree - this phone simply reeks of premium quality. The solid weight, the clarity of the screen and speed of this phone smokes the Apple iPhone 5s out of the water. I got mine refurbished for under $100 on eBay.

  • Our new HTC's

The phone itself is a very nice phone. My husband & I each bought one. We have Straight Talk and it's much better than what we previously had. Our only complaint is that it does not stay charged long when using it and they seem to get hot. When charging, the plug may get pretty hot, but it serves our purpose.

  • Product gone bad

Buying a product is a gamble. Roll the dice and you are taking a chance. Knowing what you are buying is your responsibility. Selling a product to people who know not what they are buying is a criminal injustice. Unlocked means something. Verizon unlock ed with no CDMA and USP is worthless in Canada and can only be used as a paperweight or door stop. Do not buy. Just don't and you will have less problems, headaches and more money saved. No review of this product or those who sell it is the kindness review.
