Athearn Blue Box Replacement Parts
These are must have motor mounts for Athearn Blue Box locomotives. The original ones dried out after about 20 years, so they do need to be replaced if you try to remove the motor for cleaning.

Disappointed , don't fit as advertised
I have a 1980s era Blue Box Athearn GP9/GP7. This is the era of the extrac wide Athearn shell but the narrow gold sided motor. Bought these to replace the old motor mounts that had yellowed and cracked after 35 years. These new mounts don't fit on the motor and don't fit into the mounting holes on the chassis. I tried sanding and cutting them down to fit but that didnt work either. So these are for late 90s Athearn re-tooled motors, not for the old Blue Box engines.

Athearn Motor Mounts
No they are not entertaining, however without them your Athearn engine will not run, unless you have modified it. If you do not modify your engine, then you need it to hold your motor in place. You will have to replace them from time to time. A good sign to tell you when it needs to be replaced is when it turns yellow, and hard. It will brake, and will not keep you motor in place. So you need them to keep your engine working as expected.
