A: The garage door opener, which is part of the rearview mirror, requires unscrewing your current rearview mirror and attaching the accessory mirror. If the mirror is powered, it will require you to attach an electrical connector into an existing power source.
This mirror fits my 2017 Chevy Volt nicely with simple plug and play. I just remove the old mirror and pop in the new one. The electrical connection is identical to the OEM. The remote control is removable just in case you have to park your car at a bad area. The unit will work without the car being on. The battery is NOT replaceable and will only last 10 years "on average usage." I do not know how long that will translate to in real world usage. As far as value is concern, you can get the same setup, without the auto dimming feature, in the internet for under $100. Programing is a bit confusing and time consuming. You have to search the web for programing help.
