SWR 1.1 - 1.2
Just screwed it into the steel spring (was concerned about using that on a pre-tuned) on my antenna mount and using a dedicated SWR meter I got a reading of 1.2 - 1.1 on channels 1 and 40. So I guess no review needed for this antenna except it works and my other one howled in the wind but this one is quite. 2nd one
This is the 2nd one I purchased, Gives me a good SWR 1.3 on upper channels 28-40 and fair on the lower 1.8. It's mounted on the side of a alum truck bed tool box with a custom built alum mount and braded ground strap on a F250 close to the cab. Maybe that's the reason for the higher SWR's on the lower. The first one lasted about 6 years but the fiberglass was starting to break down but work fine, just if you touched it you would get pieces in your hand. Im a retired trucker,ive used these Francis antennas for all of the years I was on the hiway. These last a long time ,and they seem to transmit better than others ive tried,and belive me ive been playing with CB Radios since 1975.And ive never had any trouble tuning them. Way back in the ninties ,my brother had a cheap CB that didnt seem to get out or hear very well,so I put a Francis 102 inch whip on his truck,and his radio worked like a champ! Best sticks ever made
I've been running Francis antennas for years. There is NO comparison to wire wound junk called trucker's antennas. You don't have to tune these sticks like the others. They don't De-tune themselves like the trucker antennas. Plus they look a lot nicer on your vehicle with less wind resistance. My only complaint is that Francis don't make the 7 foot antennas any more. I always tell people to buy these sticks and have never heard any complaints yet.
