Having used the old Monokote sealing iron sock for years I can say that the Hangar 9 sock is far superior. First, it fits all iron shoes even the larger ones. Second, the strings for holding it on are actually long enough to tie like shoe laces. Third, the material that contacts the covering on the sock face is a soft flannel type that doesn't scratch the covering and excess covering adhesive doesn't stick to it like the Monokote sock. It's definitely the way to go.

I ordered this one to replace my first one which failed after only a few uses.... This one is working ok for now. It does the job it should but don't trust it will last..

The sock is double layer, you will have to turn the heat up more to get the desired temperature. I don't think I will use it.
