Easier than welding. Takes the heat!

I used this to stick a broken weld joint on a heat shield on my exhaust. I used this right up near the exhaust headers where it gets really hot, and its been holding up wonderfully. No more brain-shaking rattling! Easier than actual welding!

  • Top critical review

Just isn't worth it for a permantent repair!

I tried to repair my exhaust shield with the putty after the welds rotted away from years of rust (No holes) and the putty just cracked and crumbled into pieces after two drives and I did let it let dry for 3 days! it's solid, but not solid enough. I then bought the Steel reinforced epoxy and that did a way better job than this putty and it didn't crumble or crack and it is rock hard and the exhaust shield feels like it's welded in place! The steel reinforced epoxy has the same heat rating as the putty, so why does JB weld recommended the putty over the epoxy for exhaust repairs when the epoxy is the better choice? Not to mention the putty and the epoxy are around the same price, so I would only use the putty for emergency repairs, but not a permanent fix.

  • Not for exhaust applications

I applied this to a spot the end of my muffler and the product just melted and smoked. The packaging also make it so that you cannot pull the stick out in one piece after the first use. This would probably be a good product for other applications, but not for any sort of exhaust.

  • awsum

we seldom need a really good high temperature bonding/sealing compound, but when we need it we really need it!

  • High Heat JB Weld

does what it's supposed to do - easy to mix thoroughly - could have a little more work time, but not a big deal for small areas, only if on big projects

  • Works for a day, then falls off

This held the exhaust leak for a day, and then came off again. Yes; I properly cleaned and roughed the surface I was using it on; however after MULTIPLE different attempts; result was the same

  • Works really well!

I used the pot to glue some sockets for a lamp. It works really well and stays strong. The last couple of "high heat" glues I tried before failed.
