Your brake fluid should be replaced two or three times a year. Get a liter, and it will last you for years. This is the least inexpensive fluid I could find. The only other option is automotive mineral brake fluid used in some old Jaguars. Do not use drug store mineral oil. I also purchased the Shimano Brake Bleed funnel for $7. I got a 1 oz syringe from the pharmacy and a 6" piece of silicone model airplane fuel line, and I am in business.

A review on this kind of product is tricky, since there is not very much to actually talk about. This is disc brake hydraulic mineral oil specifically for Shimano disc brakes. This oil work as designed for its specific application, will not void the Shimano warranty, and has given me no problems that I myself did not create in the first place (an example is that it can be messy if not handled carefully... a no brainer, its oil). That said, I prefer this product and brakes designed to use it, to DOT brake fluid, since I work in my garage and am messy (would hate to have DOT fluid flying around in there). Regardless wear some lab goggles. I like buying this product in the full Liter volume, its a much better value than the smaller size bottles sold regularly on ebay. If you value your brakes warranty, and feel compelled to follow manufacturers recommendations use this.Read full review
