My Dogs are not barking any more!
I have 2 small dogs min pin and terrier that are barking all the time!! looking out sliding glass door! any little movement out side! I walk them almost daily 3 miles ! I would take them out and play ball with them that would help for awhile! They no longer looking out the window barking they are quiet! for once!! not as good as handheld or collar type
The handheld 1st alert we have does the trick, but this automatic does not shut the dog up. I assume it has a weaker speaker, and the microphone is such that you do have to have direct line of sight to the dog. Nothing to do with sight but the less stuff between the dog and the 1st alert automatic the better. Need one with double the power. I wonder what the decibels are at what range. We are not supposed to be exposed to more than 90 decibels for a long time, but I bet you need more to shut up a dog. That is why the dog collars right next to their ears are the best. But if its not your dog, then they need to sell an amplifier for 200 feet, that will make them run back in the house.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Best thing I have ever brought
I have been struggling with barking since I got my puppies a year ago...nothing worked. But as soon as I got this, he only had to hear 2 sounds and he stopped. And stayed quiet!!! It was heaven!!! It even worked on the dog next door who barks as soon as she sees me. Looking forward now to a quiet summer... highly recommend it!!!! This Acme Bark Genie works GREAT on my dogs
We recently bought a RV, and have 5 little precious, yet often yipping, dogs that we wanted to take on our road trips with us, but we know they are not gong to be welcome at the camp grounds if they can't be quiet. I decided to purchase an Acme Bark Genie, and give it a try. Although some of the reviews were split on whether these things really work or not, I felt I had nothing to lose by trying it. The very 1st day I set it up, it was a success. Generally when I'd ask the fur babies if they wanted to go potty, all 5 of them would have an excited, barking fit, but now with the Bark Genie hooked up, all 5 of them quietly, without 1 single bark, calmly walk over to the door to go out to potty. It says on the instructions to not leave it going all the time so the dogs don't become desensitized to it, so I shut it off at different times during the day, and leave it off through the night. In the short time I've had this device they've already learned during the times that it's on that if they bark it will sound, so they are staying much quieter when it's off too. The other day when it was off they started barking, and instead of yelling at them to be quiet, I walked over and turned the Bark Genie on, and they immediately stopped. The Genie can reach up to 50ft when in the high position, so the neighbor's dog is also getting a break from 2 of my dogs that usually bark her to death when they go out too. I am highly pleased with this product, and our house is so much quieter thanks to the Bark Genie. I just wish I had purchased it years ago.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Easy to use bark control
Needed something desperately to control my dogs barking. They went on a howl fest every time I left the house (neighbors informed me). I tried a couple of things that didn't work. Saw this First Alert Bark Genie and thought I would give it a try. I put it on the lowest setting. Worked pretty good. The dogs were quiet when I would walk up to the door. What an improvement. They kind of got past the first setting so I tried the second setting. It's perfect! No more barking when I walk up to the building or to my door. I finally have the quiet I've been needing. like the compact design

Save your money
I have 2 puppies that are 9 months old. Both seemed to notice the sound and made them look twords it when they bark. It hasn't slowed down their barking at all. They still bark at their own shadows!!
