The story is fairly entertaining, about a man whose crew hijacks a NYC subway train and demands 10 million dollars or the hostages get it. It's a remake of the original Walter Matthau version, which is considerably better. First, this one utterly lacks the touches of humor in the original, like Mattau trying to give a tour of the subway offices to some visiting Japanese who he thinks don' understand what he is saying, but they do. In this remake, Denzel Washington is in the Mattau role and a sub-plot about him taking a bribe is thrown in for some reason. Anyway, it wouldn't be a bad movie except for the constant, and I do mean constant, gratuitous swearing. Seriously the first line in the movie has about seven cuss words in it, for no discernible reason. I don;t have delicate ears, and my bible won't catch fire if someone lets a cuss word go, but really, this was just wearying. I pitched the dvd when I was done watching.Read full review
