  • "Short!"

"Short!" Is what we yelled when we were coming toward the end of our time in the Army. I didn't go to Vietnam like the protagonist did in this story, but I served my time in the Army and so it's something to which I can relate. The explanation of the author's time served in Vietnam was incredible. That a person could be living their lives one moment, and their lives come to an end instantly is something not very many of us can know. The book was written superbly. Each section is delivered in a way that keeps you wanting more, and it's sad, when you come to the end of a well-written book, that you want more and wish it could keep going. I wanted more. I was raised in a family where serving one's country was stressed, and the author explains, by his own experience in Vietnam, the importance of that very ideal. A very compelling work, indeed.
