    The strut support helps

I installed this on a Ruger Mark III, it is easy to install and it worked as advertised. The Mark II and III have a predictable problem with the hammer strut, it consistently blocks the bolt when inserting and removing. Despite all the tilting in various positions shown in the manual and on the various internet sites, that is not a solution. I ended up having to use a screwdriver to reposition the strut each time when I removed and reinserted the bolt. With this strut you can consistently slide the bolt in and out without having it hanging up inside. This support plate is not a 100% solution to the strut problem, but it makes it a bit easier. When you reinstall the bolt you still have to shake the gun upside down to make sure the strut hangs down on top of the support plate and that it protrudes enough to create some tension when closing the mainspring housing lever. You still must look inside to see what position the strut is in. In my opinion, the strut problem is a persistent design flaw with the Ruger Mark II and III. It can be dealt with once you know what to look for. The best solution is the buy the new variation of the Ruger which has a sensible and much easier break-down design.

    Not worth the trouble.

Ruger MK II mainspring housing bolt stop pin assembly will not close after installation of the hammer strut support HSS, The hammer strut support HSS is to thick. To make it work you need to grind off some of the material and make it thinner, and you do not know that until you have installed it, so you have to take it out to grind off some material to make it thinner. Not worth the trouble. .

  • Easy to install and makes reassembly a dream.

Fits my Ruger MKII perfectly. Easy to install and made reassembly a breeze. Just take the grips off, push the pin to the left so it still holds the spring, insert the HSS, push the pin back, and reinstall the grips. It's that easy. Wish I would have had this a decade ago. I could have saved a lot of time putting the gun back together after cleaning. Thanks.

  • Must have item for Ruger MKII & MKIII

Strut support is well made and very easy to install. Remove grips and drive one pin PARTIALLY out . Slide support into place. Reinstall pin and grips. It is that easy. Reassembly from then on is a snap. Ruger had no need to go to the MKIV if they had put something like this in place years ago.

  • Makes re-assembly of my Ruger MK-III a snap.

Ruger should have thought of this from the start of production of the MK II. The Mk II and III can be extremely difficult to re-assemble because the hammer strut becomes wedged behind a cross pin in the grip. The minute I read about this strut support I knew I had to have one. And it has proven to be everything the reviews said. Best $15 gun part made.

  • J's review of the hammer strut support HSS for the Ruger Mark ll and Mark lll pistols.

The hammer strut support was delivered fast and was easy to install. Simply remove the handle grips (4 screws) and carefully push the cross pin towards the spring enough to slip the hammer strut into the channel. Then line up the struts notch with the pin and push it back through until the pin is secure again. The pin simply holds the strut in place. The strut simply keeps the hammer assembly spring linkage from getting caught behind the cross pin when reinstalling the hammer assembly and makes it easier to set it on the spring piston. It takes a lot of the frustration out when reassembling your pistol after cleaning.

  • Ruger Mark III strut support.

Very easy to install and does what it says, makes the pistol so much easier to put together, I will say that the Ruger Mark III is very easy to reassemble if you follow all of the instructions it has never been a problem for me, this just makes it easy for everyone. and doesn’t require as much thinking on your part.

  • Does what it says

This thing does exactly what it says. It makes that final step of reassembly of the Mk II so much easier. It was easy to install, thanks to the video. I already had the gun stripped for cleaning, however, starting from a completely assembled weapon would still be pretty easy. The only negative thing I can come up with is the price. I just believe it's a little bit pricey for what it is. The HSS appears to be a casting of either aluminum or pot metal. Doesn't look like there's any machining. Don't get me wrong, it is a quality part and it works perfectly. I just wish it had cost about 20% less. I'm still glad it is now part of my Mk II.

  • Headache saver

It has made it easier to reassemble, but I had to thin it a bit with a dremel tool to get the main spring housing to close. It helped to down the instructions on reassembly to ensure the hammer is always in the correct position and the hammer strut fits into the main spring housing groove. I have decided to now keep my Mark ll because of the super trigger it has.

  • Was not so "drop-in" .... for me

Tried installing mine, and the Main Spring Latch would not fully engage .... stuck-out a bit Seemed that the Support was a bit too thick, and it would not allow the Main Spring Housing to fit correctly into the Frame I had to take approx 0.002" off of the back of the Support and grind a bit of a radius into the bottom Now it fits and functions just fine Not the first time a "Drop-in" part, wasn't so drop-in ! Great idea / design Solves an issue that Ruger (themselves) should have addressed years ago
