I have been using Brownell's Acraglas (but not the Gel variety) for 60 years initially for bedding stocks but later for all sorts of repairs for antiques and other items. I have found it to be the best epoxy available. Because of the recent unavailability of the non-gel variety from Brownell and the too-high price and uncertain age of this variety available on eBay, I purchased just the two components without box or release agent from an eBay seller at an excellent discount. I did find it difficult to mix small amounts of resin and hardener 1 to 1 by volume by visual inspection. In one case I was apparently off because the epoxy did not harden properly. I did find that mixing the epoxy 1 to 1 by weight, although not recommended, yielded the same excellent results of the non-gel variety. Read full review

This is the first time that I have used this product. The bedding job turned out great, but I have been in misery ever since I used it. I have had a serious reaction to the resins, and hardener. Face and hands look like some type of lizard skin. I am going on the fifth day now since the use of this product, still in misery. Next step is the emergency room at our local hospital for some relief. Manufacturer should express more warnings on the package that this product can cause serious skin reactions, and I mean serious..

I used the Acraglas Gel to reassemble an original US 1816 flintlock stock which had been badly broken at the "wrist". I used a meter long piece of surgical latex tubing like a long rubber band to hold it all together until it set. I used a finger wipe of "Tacky-Finger" finger moistener (microcrystalline wax) to release coat the metal parts also needed to correctly position everything. I did not use any dye in the epoxy, and all glue lines are hairline wide and flush to the wood after removing squeeze-out at compression. This stuff is wonderful, and does not drip or run!.

Although I’m a bit of a hobbyist/ novice when it comes to bedding rifles, I’ve only done two in the past and about to work on my third bedding job. My first 2 projects turned out very well using Brownells Acraglas gel. Not only did I bed the action, but I used Score High aluminum pillars and did the pillars at the same time. Both my .300 WSM and my 7MM Remington Magnum are tack drivers. Both have shot well out to 500 yards. Just be sure to use PLENTY of releasing agent! There are plenty of informational videos out there to learn from. Study them take your time and you can probably do a very professional job yourself. I’ve used Brownells Acraglas gel on all my projects, great bedding compound.
