I'm no music expert, but I have seen other brands of cheaper tuners where the brass gear had defective teeth, like a bad casting that wasn't filled out properly. Nothing like that with these. In fact I have a few other variations of Ping tuners and they all look great, as far as inexpensive tuners go. Historically speaking, "Made in Taiwan" was right on the heels of "Made in Japan" as far as increasing quality and reputation go in many industries, and I think that still holds true today. I won't talk about that OTHER country, where lesser products might originate from!
