I've tried many, many different types of strings on my acoustic guitar, and these Martin Flexible Core SP (formerly sold as FX) lights are my go-to set these days. They offer minimal tension on the neck , so that action can be kept pretty low. Whatever makes them *flexible* works to improve the ease of playing, and bending notes. They aren't noticeably *stretchy* or anything like that, but they just don't have that stiffness that is common with a lot of strings. The tone is great, very clear mids and highs. The only thing is the low-end bass notes aren't quite as pronounced as say, standard light gauge Martin SP strings. They're not wimpy, but they just have a little less bass. Just a little less. They're fast, easy, and great-sounding strings. Give them a try...just remember you may want to lower your action just a bit to get all the benefits of their playability.Read full review

I usually use Ernie Balls for my acoustics, but love Tommy Emmanuel, so if these Martin Flex Core SP's are good enough for him, then I need to try them. I put these on my mahogany top Ibanez AC240 and love the tone and feel. I honestly think these strings have increased the volume of my guitar by 20%. I actually have to try and play a little lighter so that I'm not too loud to bug my girlfriend working downstairs...lol. I think these Martin's would bring any guitar needing a little love, back to life. They feel great and sound crystal clear and powerful. Will re-string with them again.

I normally use D'addario Lights with my Takamine PD4C but I tried these on the recommendation of a friend and I find that I like them. I don't do much bending on acoustic guitars these days, and they may be slightly easier to play but what I mainly like about them is that they give my guitar a little "jangle" and liven up the sound a tad. Will probably stick with them from here on. From what I remember Martin strings always sound good at first but usually started getting dull quicker than D'addarios but so far these have kept pretty bright after about 20 or so hours of playing.

Best sounding and playing strings I've tried, on all my guitars. Lights or mediums, you can't beat the tone, response and life....for the price.
