  • Hate these Strings!

Ok...first of Music123 is excellent and I'm sure GHS is an excellent company.....however these strings (my opinion..remember) have a Weird feel to them, the tone is ok but the tension in my opinion was terrible. My string height was set at 6/64 and by the time I put these strings on my relief and string height was horrible and as I'm tightening these strings I could hear the neck creaking and the instrument making some wierd noises after adjusting the necks and dropping the saddles down and adjusting intonation. I just did not like these strings one bit. Poor feel. Mediocre tone. High tension. I did bite the bullet and bought thomastik flatwounds from a great store on Reverb for $45 shipped. I'm sold on the Thomastiks. You get what you pay for. I can't imagine this high if tension string can be good on your instrument (strings were put on a CIJ Fender '54 reissue"

  • they are as described

These are described as a round wound that is polished down to be similar to a flatwound. That's exactly what they are. You can tell they are not flatwound strings, so to be picky as a fan of flatwound I wasn't thrilled that some of that string wine and feel is still there...HOWEVER they do a good job of giving a brighter sound than your typical flat.. so its a good mid string and sounds cool on my acoustic bass.

  • Nice strings, the flat wounds work great on my Epiphone Viola bass

One of the most highly recommended strings. New to bass, so I asked real bass players with many years of experience.
