You can not get this from any shop in UK . I have never had any problems using this. I have a very healthy 18 year old Hahns Macaw. The pet shop where I buy bird seed from has small caged birds, last time I was there I noticed all there birds were scratching badly so to be on the safe side I purchased this protector. I used a larger one years ago before all it's bad press. you would think using the larger one would have effected my bird, it has not effected him in any way 18 years ago. Then a large gap before using it again.
