The NeoPixel Ring has 12 ultra-bright smart LEDs with an outer diameter of approx. 37 mm. The rings can simply be connected in series by connecting "Data Out" with "Data In" of the subsequent ring. Only a single output of the microcontroller is required to control the LEDs. Each LED can be addressed individually and has a constant power consumption of approx. 18 mA. The operating voltage is 5 V. The data protocol is very time-critical due to the individual line. In other words, a real-time microcontroller such as an AVR, Arduino, PIC, mbed, etc. and the module is not suitable, for example, for Linux-based microcontrollers. To control it, Adafruit offers the NeoPixel library for Arduino: https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_NeoPixel The library is only suitable for Atmel AVR microcontroller.
These neopixel rings are so much fun. Change colors, change patterns - let your imagination run wild.
They go from candlelight dim to super bright. I hooked these up to an arduino with 4 AA batteries and it ran for hours.
Adafruit makes high quality products and these 12 LED rings are proof of that.
Hook these up to an arduino's 5v output and have some fun.
