I was very interested in getting this book after reading two of the author's more recent books. I have learned a lot about our ecosystem from these books, and the thing that most excites me is that there are actions I can take beyond recycling, and trying to limit my use of our collective rescoures. I can choose plants for my small yard that will make a difference! I can reduce my lawn, and have a much more interesting area around my suburban home. Yay!

Phots are great ... each caption had the latin names of the plants for reference . great combination of the talents the two authors. One on the science of the native plant environment (tallamy) the other (darke) of design and photos using native plants

I appreciate the inspiring photos and much helpful information. The plants and their benefits to habitat include native for north to mid-Atlantic which suits my needs. Most other books on this topic have a prairie-style, named “cultivar” focus which might work but benefits fewer species as they are generally European selected choices.

The book is just what I was looking for. It tells what kinds of plants are needed to support nature. There is a plant index in the back by location. Very helpful
