  • Audio Technica ATH-AD900X Open-Air Headphones

These headphones fulfill a need in my living room. There are times when I want to hear what is going on in the conversation yet also hear the dialogue on the computer. For that purpose, they can't be beat. The sound quality that they reproduce is excellent; However, if you want headphones that deliver DEEP BASE you may be disappointed. These don't cut it. I am spoiled by my Def Tech 3000 speakers, with their 18" powered subwoofers, so that may explain my jadedness. I have yet to find good headphones costing less than $300, and even then they could all use an adjustable preamp for different recording styles. Just the techie in me, I guess.

  • great headphones for a really good price now, low bass which can be fixed with an aplifier. you need an amp or a stereo system to really enjoy them.

highly recommend for games, great treble, designed for vocals but has a fantastic sound all around. weak bass. these headphones requires a stereo system or an amp with a bass boost to get them really going, they leak sound so watch out. you can seach them on youtube and their reviews are accurate regarding what they are.

  • Great non-traditional headphones

I say non-traditional because I thought to get good sound I need heavy, solid, uncomfortable headphones. I have a pair of those that sound great, but can't wear for more than a half hour w/o my ears hurting and getting hot. This set loses a little bass compared to the closed type, but the trade-off is more than worth it. The highs and mids are great, and they sound less isolated than the ATH-MSR7s that I own, and they ARE COMFORTABLE! You really can only use them if you plan to sit and listen to music. They are too loose to do anything involving movement, especially exercise, with them on. This is why they are so comfortable (for me); they don't squeeze your head and block your ears to the extent of causing pressure and heat buildup. I find the sound pretty neutral (or not artificially enhanced on either end), but not boring, definitely more "spacial and airy" than the closed headphones I own. Happy listening!

  • Good headphones, would recommend over anything “gaming” branded

Not the worlds best for small heads, but still fits. Bass is the only thing that it needs, and that can be fixed in the Windows or Mac settings. Sound depth is unreal. Great headphones.

  • Audio Technica ad900x

I have used them on my Galaxy s7 cell phone and my Emotiva DC-1 dac/ headphone amp. Both sources sound very nice with the ad900x cans. I have about 50 hrs on them now. Some folks say the bass is weak but I disagree. They have a nice clean open sound to them. On live recordings it like you are part of the show.

  • clear highs!

they are extremely comfortable if you have the right sized head, fairly soft suede type pads. the highs and the mids are extremely clear and detailed, the base is minimal and almost fuzzy. the non detachable cable is terrible! will not straighten out. these headphones are very good for vocals and instrumental, baseheads might want to look elsewhere.

  • Great headphones!!!

These are great stand alone headphones, however, you do need an amp to really get the most out of them, though. Super lightweight at under 100grams!! Super comfortable, and great for people who constantly live in fear of being called by their parents, and missing it because you didn’t hear them, of course, I cannot relate to this at all. Super long cable makes for a great toy for your cat to mess with under your desk, again, I cannot relate to this at all. They also have an expansive frequency range, and ability of being able to hear every little thing in your music, games, or even the little details, like how the Breaking Bad actors actually talk over the phone when there is a call in the show, of course, I cannot relate, as I am deaf(that is a lie). Anyway, great sounding, comfortable headphones at a pretty reasonable price!

  • The only headphones to buy, balanced Sound, comfort and Cost.

GREAT sounding cans. Clarity, depth space. Tight BASS and high treble. Light weight. No fatigue or the Heating of the inner ear. Open back comfort and one can still hear what happening around.

  • Great soundstage

A+++ I was looking for an open-backed set of headphones for setting stereo separation for my recordings in Logic Pro X. Closed back phones didn't quite give me the precision I was looking for. These 900x's do the trick! Great instrument separation and identification. Sound quality is very good overall and considering the price, equivalent to much more expensive headphones. I would have preferred a detachable cable, but I can live with the long fixed cablel

  • "Everything you will want or need for a set of cans. GREAT for gaming."

Legendary sound stage like its little siblings the AD500x and AD700x. The big difference really is the 900's are also a lot better for general music and movies as well. The lows are much more pronounced as are the mids compared to the to lower models. Soundstage is fantastic and at the pricepoint I really can't complain. The only slight gripe is that the 3D wing system feels really wierd at first (Almost like nothing is on your head). BUT after awhile you will be wondering how you ever lived without it. A++. Audio Technica delivering as always.
