Unless your the type of person who has a greater level of disposable income and needs the latest and greatest tech, your like me and stuck with yesterdays technology and trying to find the biggest bang for your buck. The Arris Surfboard SB6141 meets that search for a cable model. This unit price is a bargain, it's a plug and play unit as long as you call your cable company when installed, and provides entry level Docsis 3.0 compatibility and speeds. Although it is only capable of bonding 8 channels , as opposed to the current tech of 16 and 32, it performs solidly and consistently gave me download speeds in excess of the cable provider's max stated standards. That's pretty good for the price.

I plugged it in. Gave MAC# to cable provider. It worked. Speed as expected, basic performance. Durability/reliability unknown; too bad these rating schemes never provide info on failures over time. 3 stars, because 4 means "better than expected." It's not better than expected. It doesn't need to be. Good product so far. No regrets. I'd buy it again, and recommend it to others who want a basic DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem.

I purchased this modem to replace one just like it, same model Motorola SB6141, but my old one is black, this new one is white. I installed it and then contacted Comcast to provision the modem, and it exhibits the exact same problem as the original which is that on the Bonded Channels, all 8 Download channels appear to be bonded correctly, but for the 4 Upload Channels, only the first channel is Displaying "Success", but the other 3 Upload Channels display "Retries Exceeded" after the modem boots up. This is apparently a Comcast Issue as there is only a single Coax Cable running from the back of the modem directly to the outside grounding block. I know because I installed it myself. From the Grounding Block, another Comcast owned cable runs underground to a pole on the corner of the property, then down the street to an area where all of the Comcast cabling was recently replaced due to a big truck tearing all of the lines down. This problem did not exist before the Cable Rebuild, and clearly replacing the modem did not solve the issue, however, I'm glad that this modem works just like my original. Clearly, the problem does not reside within my Home or Equipment. Motorola SB6141 is a very reliable modem, and will handle up to about 300 Mbps download rates which is more than I'll ever need.Read full review

I have had the modem for a week and setup was a breeze for TWC all I had to do was take the original modem in the original box to the store, the lady scanned them both and I went home plugged it in and was good to go. At speeds a little faster than my actual internet quote. Now for the single bad thing, after having the modem for a week or two I've been slowed down to the slowest speed I can pay for. To fix this twice I restarted and I'm gonna see how long it takes to happen again. Otherwise I wish I bought one sooner.

Naturally with this review, I would rate this modem with a 5 Star..but I rated it a 3 because the product claimed to have speeds up to 343MBPS. I have Time Warner Cable and paying for the 200MBPS service. With that's said, I had successefull updated my Mac ID with a time warner rep and connected my Arris(SB6141) modem and my Asus router. Everything worked fine, but when checking my download speeds, I was only recieving 100MBPs-115MBPS 😭. The time warner rep had checked the compatibility with TWC and it checked out, but it will be limited to a maximum output to 100MBPS and nothing can be done to receive my 200MBPS that I am paying for. So I had to down grade my service for the time being to 100MBPS and saved $10 off my bill and additional $10 for no longer leasing out the modem/router combo that they had provided. Its probably best to stick to the modem router/combo I was provided in the first place before I waste anymore money. The Arri's Modem model SB6190(Modem Only) can support speeds up to 300MBPS for Time Warner. Hope this is helpful and prevent any of you to make the same mistakes and wasting money and time like I had done to get the best and fastest speeds from my provider .Read full review
