A major plus about this product: it offers AC outlets on the front and the rear. So, if it's mounted in a portable rack cabinet, e.g. for use on stage, musicians can plug their gear into the rear-mounted outlets without having to reach into the rack. The inside outlets can power rack-mounted gear. The outlets are rated 20 amps, and so is the circuit breaker. Wonderful! I have purchased four used units total, and three of them had damaged outlets - looks like someone plugged in a device that was turned on, causing arc-damage to the outlet. I have a call in to Tripp Lite to ask about replacement outlets. If you buy new, they come with a lifetime warranty. But that warranty is not transferable to a new owner. The standard connector on the power cord is a twist-lock. I love these, but most venues won't have them, so I replaced with an ordinary 15A plug...since that's most likely what I'll be plugging into. It'll be a weak link, but I like the notion that the 20A outlets and 12ga wiring is more sturdy than a purely 15A outlet strip.Read full review

As a musician space, weight, and cost are at a premium when deciding on gear. This fit the needs I had exactly. I use a four space road rack and this was perfect to mount at the back of the case due to its having both outlets on the front and rear of the unit. I can plug my rack electronics in one side, and have all the outlets I need for other accessories without taking a single rack space in the front of the rack. Tripp-Lite products are high quality and built like tanks, as was this. The 20 amp outlets are more than I will probably need for most applications, but it's good to not starve my power amp or other electronics that might need the extra power. The outlets are made to accept standard 5-15 and the 20 amp 5-20 plugs, but the male 5-20 plug, will not fit in a standard 115 (5-15) wall outlet. A three dollar adapter (5-20R to 5-15P) can be found on line or at Home Depots, Menards, or other national chain stores, which enables the plug to fit any standard wall receptacle. I've used Furman power conditioners for years, which are cheap feeling when compared to the Tripp-Lite units. The Power conditioners are mostly a marketing ploy, and nothing more than a fancy power strip honestly. The Tripp-Lite feels like a professional tool compared to the Furman, which doesn't have the same quality. At 37.00 used, it was a steal. I highly recommend the unit.Read full review
