As a hard core "gear phreak," I have usually had to custom-assemble my own rear axle cogsets, for either freewheels or cassettes. I wanted to drop my lowest gear ratio down a bit, while maintain good ratio progression. I installed this 13-30 7-speed block without modification, then secured it with my existing 12T threaded cog, instead of the 11T it came with. After a miniscule readjustment of my rear derailleur stop screws, I was in business, with a couple of noticeably lower bottom gears, as a concession to the aging process on the hill climbs I love.
