  • Top Strings

I've tried all 3 hybrid cobalt slinky and although these are the thinnest, they fit better and feel and Sound as good as all of them. I'll stick to these im thinking. Great string, just ever so slightly easier to manueve. Truly a great string. A±++++ LET THEM WEAR IN OVER A WEEK.

  • Fantastic Flats with Zing and Presence!

I originally decided to try these strings on my fretless bass to try and tame some of the harshness I was getting from roundwound strings, but not lose all the brightness. I was simply blown away. Not only do you you get plenty of zing, but the strings have much more mid-range presence than rounds and really cut through the mix. And these strings also tamed that harshness in the top end that I just couldn't get rid of with the rounds. I now have these strings on one fretted bass as well, and they deliver the same results. I can get the action super low because they don't buzz like the rounds as well. If you want to try a flatwound string but want to retain as much brightness as possible, I can't recommend these strings more highly.

  • One of the best flats available, at any price!

If you want lower tension flats that sound like roundwounds, get these! They’re comparable to the other brands that cost twice or three times as much. I love them!

  • I have found my strings!

I tried these strings when they first came out. There were a lot of breakage complaints. The G string broke at the tuning peg upon installation. Tried them again a few years later and for many months now - no breakage. They must have listened to their customers. Now they are my go-to string. They're on my American P-bass and my MIM Mustang bass. The 45 - 100 gauge works for me on long scale. Would like that gauge in short scale but the .105 is very good. Zing is a good description, but they have great lows too and respond well to hand positioning. No clank and a very nice growl to them. Very glad that I can quit spending butt-loads of cash experimenting with other string manufacturers.

  • Earnie Ball Flatround Strings

These strings are great in two ways , I like to use Flatwound strings but they don 't sound as bright as round wounds but these strings give you the flat strings that you want and still have a bright sound. So you get two for one. I have these on two of my basses now and plan on getting more for some of my other ones. Don Knight

  • My new favorite flat wounds!

A nice live springy flat wound sound. Good mids and barkey highs .Brings a bit more life to my mud bucker eb-3. Easier on my frets than rounds and still pretty flexible. More heft than the Sunbeams I replaced. My first try of the cobalt so we'll see how they last. Hopefully they'll settle in to a vintage tone I can keep without frequent changing often.

  • Bright, smooth, and lively

I bought these strings for my Ibanez acoustic electric bass because I have a preference for flatwound strings and they did not disappoint. They gave my bass more volume and a bright, clean tone...and they feel great.

  • Great feel and sound

I’ve been a fan of flatwounds for quite a while, so I tried a set of Ernie Ball Slinky Cobalt flatwounds for the first time. My first impression is that these are very good quality strings. Good feel, lots of output, a good mid punch, nice highs and lows. I’ll see how long they last. So far, so good.

  • Lots of top end with less finger noise.

I am in love with these strings. I've been wanting to switch to flat wounds for a while now as I love the feel and the reduced finger noise. But they never had enough top end to for me. These new Cobalt Flats are perfect for me. They sound fantastic and are a dream to play.

  • Sounds great on a fretless p bass

First experience with flatwounds and I’m really enjoying their sound on my fretless p bass. They are very comfortable, brighter than I expected, look great against rosewood, and I feel they are going to last a long time even with daily playing and not eat into the fingerboard.
