I installed the new battery two weeks ago, and have had no problems since. It's the same size as the original, so it went in smoothly. Good thing I ordered the tools because I did not have a Torx driver that small.

I've been using this battery in my Garmin 255W for about a month now. The start up time is much quicker than with the old original battery. The past three times I've used just battery power and after about an hour and a half total, It's down by only one bar. Looks like it should run about four to five hours before needing a complete recharge but the label says it's good for up to 1000 charges. This battery DOES NOT come with instructions !!! It does come with tools but it's up to you to figure out how to install it. The little blue plastic pry bar worked pretty good to pry the Garmin apart AFTER I figured out there were two screws hidden underneath the bar code on the bottom of the unit. The pry bar opened the top of the unit but I had to stick the small flat screw driver into the crack and walk it around the unit, periodically using additional screw drivers to keep the crack open till it finally popped open. Using the small torx driver I was able to dismantle the inside to expose the plug for the battery. Gotta be careful here as you can damage the circuitry real easy. Insertion of the plug is idiot proof,, can only go in one way. The battery had the leads coming out the middle of the battery instead of the top corner so I had to cut the label and re-position the leads. The battery DOES NOT come with the sticky backing to mount the battery into the unit to prevent it from banging around. I used my wife's hair dryer to loosen up the two sided sticky patch from the old battery and transfer it to the new one. Once positioned and pressed to stick, reassembly was a snap. I would highly recommend this battery with the enclosed tools if you need a replacement. The Garmin 255W is a bit tricky to disassemble and even with good eyes you might want to have a magnifying glass handy. Since this battery fits a score of other types of units, such as cell phones, for $10 it's a real deal.Read full review

The tools included were adequate for the job. The installation was easy and the first charge of the battery held up well. The only ding I have is that it would have been nice if it also included a piece of double sticky foam to secure the new battery to the case so it doesn’t rattle. Overall I would call it 4.9 out of 5.0 stars. I will probably get another one for my other GPS as well.

I needed to replace the battery in my Nuvi 260. There is a good video on YouTube on the procedure. Took my time and all went well. I ended up using a screwdriver to pry the gps case open as there was too much flex in the blue lever. Other than that the screwdrivers were needed for the torx screws. The gps booted faster after the battery replacement. All Good!

Great value and so easy to exchange. Came charged and when I hooked it up in the car, it totally charged in no time. The tools are what you need to do the job. I just wish the tool used to pry the garmin apart was more sturdy. Had to use a small screw driver when the tool started to wear down.
