  • Top favorable review

Better in some type of magazines than others.

Good product for what it is designed for. Once the rim is dented from a firing pin, they don't feed well from a tubular magazine. They are fine in a box, rotary or cylinder magazine.

Pachmayr .22 LR Snap Caps-Plastic are not durable

I found that the rim breaks off after only a few firing pin hits from my Ruger 10/22. The plastic used for the Snap Caps is two hard and crush-able causing them to fall apart very quickly. They are too expensive to use if they do not last for dry fire practice.

  • Snapcaps by Pachmayr

I've tried a few different brands of 22lr caliber snap caps. They have been miserable failures. Nobody wants to damage their 22 firearm by dry firing, right? But, these polymer dummy rounds are the best thing I have found to date. They take repeated dry firing without damage. The other brands will dent and deform to the point to reuse them you have to file or sand them down to conformity. Then, you might be lucky if they function properly in a mag check. Take my word for it. These are the best thing goin for 22lr. Thanks for lookin'.

  • The world needs a better snap cap.

As snap caps go...these are as good as any I've tried. After cycling a few times the rim tears off. As usual. I like to dry fire as practice for target shooting but a rimfire firearm requires an empty case or snap cap to keep the firing pin from hitting the breech. So far I haven't found anything that holds up for more than a few cycles. Guess I'll stick to centerfire pistols for dry fire practice.

  • Maybe too soft?

Preventing damage from dry-firing a .22 is always a concern and snap-caps are good to have. These certainly soften firing pin strikes - the plastic is easily deformed. That's also a drawback because they don't extract very well but that's somewhat expected but these seem overly soft.

  • Hard to install for an old weak guy like me.

Difficult to install, the enclosed instructions didn't work at all for me. I threw the plastic cutouts in the trash. Lubed with Windex and slid the trigger side on first then worked it up the grip. I think it will greatly improve the grip for my wife.

  • Pretty fragile

Used in an LCR revolver, some of these snap caps had the primer area flange break off after only 1 or strikes from the firing pin. Expected them to last longer than that.

  • The Right Stuff

Everything is "right"- sized accurately, light and easy to handle (don't try to roll away) and the right color to find when you do manage to drop one. Small things I know, but it's the small things that add up when a person uses a tool! Recommend.

  • You need these, they are the best.

An absolute necessity for owners of .22LR firearms. They feed through all actions I have tried, and have been used multiple times without showing significant damage. These make it possible to gain familiarity with your firearm, and allow for dry-firing without risking damage to the chamber or firing pin. The quantity of the package allows you to load a magazine, dry-fire, and manually cycle the action. Great for Safety, great for practice. The bright orange color lets you find them on the ground, and reuse them repeatedly. A must have item.

The work great in all my rim fire 22, they seem to take many hits without a problem and are easy to load.
