  • Profoundly awful audio presentation

This is the most profoundly awful audio presentation that I have ever heard. It is so bad I would not be surprised if the discs I received turned out to be counterfeit. I am usually quite patient. When the movie “Battlefield Earth” came out I saw it through to its conclusion. But this CD collection is even worse and I could not listen to more than the first 30 minutes. Jennifer Curtet consistently presents terms and examples that are used incorrectly, unrelated to the topic and pointless. For example, many people refer to “stretching” as spreading out a resource to cover a greater need. Jennifer defines all requests to do more as stretching. Furthermore, she calls stretching a principle, even though she makes no prediction whatsoever regarding its outcome. She also credits Jack Welch for inventing the idea of asking employees to do more. What does any of this have to do with assertive communication techniques? Absolutely nothing. I bought this presentation because it was advertised at the end of another Rockhurst University CD set called: The Power of Persuasion with Jordan Davis. Because that presentation was very well done I was hoping this one would be of similar quality. It does not come close at all. Jennifer Curtet speaks swiftly. If all you care about is getting a lot of words for your money then this presentation might be for you. If you are looking for words that are believable, helpful, and consistent with the advertised topic then I would recommend seeking alternate material.
