SynopsisTerry Pratchett's profoundly irreverent novels are consistent number one bestsellers in England, where they have garnered him a revered position in the halls of parody next to Mark Twain, Kurt Vonnegut, Douglas Adams, and Carl Hiaasen. The Color of Magic is Terry Pratchett's maiden voyage through the now-legendary land of Discworld. This is where it all begins--with the tourist Twoflower and his wizard guide, Rincewind.

  • Welcome to the World of Terry Pratchett.

The Color of Magic is the first of Terry Pratchett's Discworld books and gives the reader a whirlwind tour of the Discworld through the eyes of the Disc's first tourist. This is the first of two books of the adventures of our tourist and his impromptu tour guide, a wizardy type of guy, and completes the book The Light Fantastic. The Color of Magic is a wonderful read full of fantasy places and peoples and a constant edge of sarcastic humor. All of Terry Pratchett's Discworld books are worthy of a place on any bookshelf, he was one of the best at satirical humor and fantasy fun, but to really understand the Disc The Color of Magic, along with it's sister book The Light Fantastic, truly sets the scene for all the others Discworld books which are many and various in content being mostly stand alone stories. I highly recommend The Color of Magic, along with The Light Fantastic, as one of the must reads of our time for any lover of fantasy and/or satire. I am a fairly new Pratchett fan but having read The Color of Magic I will be a faithful one.

  • Intriguing

Terry Pratchett had a way with words and images that makes you feel like you are actually in the story. Highly recommend and and all of his books as an excellent read.

  • It's a good book, but second hand was a mistake.

The book is lovely, it's exactly what I paid for, but it's in slightly rougher shape than I'd have liked.
