Most first-time buyers of a camera will get the standard 50mm or limited zoom lenses. You should consider this lens as the lens to purchase first with your camera. This lens scales up on Nikon's DX format to a 36mm f/1.7. The view you get with this lens is a little more useful than a 50mm view. Great for indoor group shots and street photography. The lens produces sharp images. It does have a plastically feel but is very durable. Another plus about this lens is the fast f/1.7.
