Classic!
Wonderful movie classic. TCM doesn't always show my favorites, and even if they do, they will expire off of the DVR in time. I like to OWN my movies. I have an extensive collection of the most popular AND/OR the most obscure classic movies I can find. If the day comes that I can't afford to pay for cable - I'll have my collection to keep me entertained. Spencer's Mountain
It is an engaging narrative about family confronted by the rigors of rugged Americana, beset by modest highs and lows, glee, hope, tragedy and realizing the fulfillment of a dream as an offspring prepares for life outside of the usually expected station of the time. The film is well worth the price of this particular admission, to be viewed as wholesome and reflective, contrary to what some critics may deem corny or dated. It is rare that Spencer’s Mountain is shown on tv. I was just a young teenage in the late 60’s when I first saw / watched the movie. It is one of those good heart-warming movies that stays with you forever. I always Think about the movie and always wanted to own it. So one day I finally looked it up. Found it!!!! Almost sixty years since I saw it last.
I saw this movie last when it was released. It's as fascinating now as it was then. Especially since I live just over a hundred miles from where the non-stage scenes were filmed.
