Good HomeKit accessory.
While my smart home integration consists of both Apple and Alexa products I prefer HomeKit products and found this garage controller from insignia an easy install for Apple HomeKit and fairly reliable. For the price I paid on eBay, it's fine...
I have mixed emotions on this product... I believe Best Buy dropped it... because of issues people had. I took a punt because the price was right, and so far it works, but it does get easily confused. You can't issue too many commands at once --- it will end up with the door down but telling you its open not closed... Using the manual button on the door seems to be particularly problematic... It's almost like it doesn't the state of the sensor unless it's been commanded to operate through Apple Home. What I really like is that my door is now on my phone and as if by magic, appears on my carplay screen as soon as I am a couple of blocks from home. This is brilliant, and the reason why I wanted a HomeKit compatible device. I did pull the sensor apart, just to see what's in there... It's pretty basis basic. There's a ball-bearing tilt switch, which is probably not the best... Back in the day, we would have had a mercury tilt switch which would have been far more reliable. Some people complain about the battery. It is an oddball... When it fails I plan on replacing it with an external (2x) AAA battery holder, which will make battery replacement quick and simple... Simple garage door controller
This garage door controller works great but for some reason, when I use my car homelink to open the garage door, it does no report it! The garage pad and wireless remotes do send a notification on the status of the door. Reliable Garage Door Controller for Apple Homekit

The Insignia Garage Door Controller was simple to install and connect to the Apple Home app. The WiFi signal in our garage is relatively strong and I've not had any problems with the Insignia dropping off the network.
