I have been a Braun consumer for many years. I have tried other types of electric razors and have concluded that for my thick beard and circular growth pattern, the Braun gives me the closest and most comfortable shave. The replacement foil and cutter head does an effective job and lasts for approximately 18 months as advertised. Even long hairs cut cleanly without pulling, and I have never suffered irritation or rash while using this product. My only complaint is it's cost--$35-$55 depending on the place of purchase. Because the part is proprietary, Braun has us over a barrel and in my view charges perhaps double or triple what it ought to cost (a la Apple, Sony and other big-name brands).

Though it did not say so in the eBay ad and it did arrive in the pictured Braun hanger blister pack (giving the impression that it is genuine Braun when looking at the ad), it is not a genuine Braun product. The portion of the head that holds the foil is made out of plastic whereas the genuine Braun product is made out of metal. I looked at both my old genuine Braun head and this one under a magnifying loop and you can see definite differences. The holes in the Braun foil are hexagonal with very defined corners. The holes on the aftermarket part are more like an oval, without the distinct corners and hexagonal shape. The result is that it takes me three to four times as many passes to get the same shave quality as the genuine Braun part. The 10 bucks I save were not worth it. I will not buy this part again. If you have a Braun Series 7 shaver, and it needs a new head, this is the one to get. It fits all the Series 7 models. If you are diligent with the cleaning it will last a year, which makes it a pretty good deal. Having tried many different brands of electric shaver, I think the Brauns are superior. I haven't tried the series 9, but it appears similar to the 7 except for some added features I don't need. I'll stick with the 7, as long as these excellent replacement blades are available.

The 70S is a genuine OEM part that fits perfectly. However, i have not had as close a shave as my original cassette. This could be due to different maker of the shaver resulting in compromised quality of the blades. I still get a good shave but it takes much longer and repetitive crosses to get that quality shave. I read somewhere that the blade is no longer from Germany or uses german steel which possible leave something to be desired. I adjusted the closeness of the blade and it still needs several passes to accomplish original performance. Got a great deal so shop around and get the best possible deal. Though this is an OEM part does, fits and does give you an option to spending $$$ on handheld razors.

The shaver manual says about every 6 months. I have used them over a year and they are still going strong. I am sure if I swapped the old for the new it would still cut great. I only replaced it because I thought it's double the life expectancy and I better try a new blade, funny I didn't notice any difference! I'm keeping the old one just in case I feel this new one is getting dull.
