I use metal baffles on the feeder pole, so I don't know how squirrel proof this feeder is. I've been feeding the birds for a long time, and metal baffles are the only squirrel deterrent that have worked for me. However, this is a handy feeder for smaller birds, which is what I wanted. I feed everyone, but larger birds, like blue jays, starlings, make thing tough for the little guys, such as chicadees, finches, sparrows, etc. So the bug pushy birds can eat, but so can the little birds, with this type of feeder, so I don't worry about my little chickadee friends. Also the price doesn't break the bank, so this can easily be replaced, which is good in terms of cleanliness. very good little feeder, suits its purpose well.

Nicely constructed bird feeder. I like the screw on top. But my squirrels are at this feeder all day long. I have fox and black squirrels and they climb and sit on this feeder like any other i've had. Thought I would give this one a try but no luck. If you are looking for a basic bird feeder this would be fine. For a squirrel proof feeder, I would try another route.

For the price this an excellent buy. The small birds feed easily while larger birds have difficulty maintaining balance on perches. The feeder is constructed of relatively thin plastic. In no way is it squirrel proof. Instructions with the feeder say it must be suspended in a place where no squirrels can get to it. If you can do this it is a very good buy.

I had squirrels hanging upside down, chowing down from the feeder. So, "squirrel-proof" should be deleted from the description. Still, it has lots of perches for the birds and holds a good amount of seed. Good value for the price.

First of all I have to say, this feeder is not squirrel proof, not sure why they have it listed as such. The squirrels can definately get to it if you let them. I have mine hanging from a huge tree and they are hanging on fishing line that the squirrels have trouble seeing. They cant seem to figure out how the feeders are just floating in the air, and it really has them confused. I'm sure they will figure out a way to get to them at some point. The construction of the feeders is really good for the price. Holds a lot of seeds. I like the little "T" shaped perches for the birds, instead of the single rod sticking out like most feeders, this way the birds dont have to sit sideways. Gives them a bit more room on the perch and probably a better grip to hang on when feeding. They had to get used to it. Took about a week for the birds to see them there, but once they did they literally expect them to be there everyday now. Really good deal for the price, I have no complaints. They definately seem to prefer this one over my hopper feeder. I use the black oil sunflower seeds and they really flock to get in line to get them.Read full review
