I've used a Creative Zen, and another type of Zen player, and even a Sansa Clip Plus, and none of them worked as well as this unit. Yes, the others mentioned also have an mp3 player function, but I was looking for just a good, easy to use FM radio receiver that takes a standard AAA battery. This item fits the bill perfectly! The FM station tuning/preset functions are super easy (as opposed to the Creative Zen which is a nightmare!) The buttons are very easy to use and instant on and off...much better than the other units. I'm so sick of the "rechargeable" players constantly going dead on me all the time, right in the middle of a radio show. With this Walkman, all I have to do is stick another battery in it! Wonderful! And the battery life is good too! I'm going to order two more just in case they become unavailable later!Read full review

I needed a portable radio for use in fitness centers and as I considered the various models the Sony SRF-M37W struck me as the best value. I am in a fitness center every day for a few hours, and usually in a different fitness center today than the one I was in yesterday (due to required travel). Since I purchased a Sony SRF-M37W I have attempted to use this radio in over 30 fitness centers. Mostly what I hear is static and hiss, interference (presumably from fitness machines) and distant-sounding radio stations, irrespective of the band. I read another's review of this product and offer it for your consideration: "The reception isn't great but beats any other portable am/fm offered by any other company." I don't know if the reception of the Sony SRF-M37W "beats" competitive models, but I can say that the reception that I experienced is substandard and essentially unusable in fitness centers. If we are unable to purchase a reasonably-priced portable radio that provides better reception than the Sony SRF-M37W, I recommend that we don't purchase any.Read full review

For very light, compact design, intelligent layout of buttons, a useful lock the buttons function and unusually good sound for the price I would rate this radio excellent. It also runs very economically on a single AAA battery. However, reception is marred by marked directional sensitivity for the antenna system which sometimes causes nearby stations to overlap the tuned frequency according to which way you turn. The only other weakness is the headset which, in spite of the excellent sound, has somewhat uncomfortable earpieces. But, overall, the radio is a good value for the price.

This is a great little Walkman radio. Very small, lightweight, belt clip, really great reception. I use this primarily in conjunction with a headphone that allows hearing in a very noisy environment because I attend Miami Dolphin football games and they are broadcast on AM radio. This little radio has such great reception and sound it actually brings in the game broadcast better than the AM-FM radio built into the headphones. Extremely economical to use since it only takes one AAA radio battery and usually just one battery lasts pretty much the entire season since I only use it for home games (10). I just put the radio in my shirt or pants pocket, connect it to the headphones with a short cord and listen to the whole game. In addition the FM side brings in incredible sounding stereo music. The price even included a headset that I can use when I'm not at the game and the whole thing was in great condition. Great deal, great little radio.Read full review

The Sony SRF-M37v miniature radio is an excellent radio for anyone. Despite it's small size, the sound and reception are top notch- especially the AM reception. While living in the Pacific Northwest, I was still able to pick up radio stations in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, as well as in Winnipeg Canada, thousands of miles away. White this tiny yet powerful radio does pick up TV stations, that no longer matters since the 2006 TV frequency change-over to digital, but it still does pick up NOAA Weather broadcasts, however. It's extremely well-built, as my first and 2nd Sony units lasted for almost 20 years each. It's also very compact, in using only 1 small AAA battery to power the unit, which lasts for weeks of daily usage ( I used NiMh rechargeable batteries, which has long life and since it's rechargeable, I only need one AAA battery to use for 4 years at a time. I have no idea why Sony stopped making this fantastic miniature radio, as it has been off the market for over 12 years now, and the only place to find it is here on Ebay.Read full review
