Advantages: Good construct. Very qualitative materials: plastic of lens is not different from the material of the carcass. Very convenient range of focal lengths. It is few geometrical distortions, on 28 mm it is quite possible to remove group and growth portraits. The constant aperture. Fast focusing. Standard size of light filters (77 mm). Price. Disadvantages: On my copy there was a small front focus (it was necessary to make the amendment on-7). Decrease in sharpness at edges of a shot though it belongs to all lens. Often chromatic aberrations (on the other hand to clean them the editor doesn't make work). Catches hares. There is no profile in a adobe lightroom. Comment: In general good-quality things. Big range of focal lengths, strong construct, good sharpness since f/4, a natural color rendition, low level of vignetting. Well and of course the price, in comparison with reference for DX nikkor 10-24 it is about 1,5 times lower. That for me became a decisive factor.Read full review
I recently photographed a rock concert and used this little guy almost exclusively. It's perfect for indoor photography and let's you get in close and still see everyone on stage. Very little distortion and good optics. The only downside is the aperture only goes up to 4, which was a bit of a pain in the dimly lit stage I was shooting. Though, my Nikon D7000 handles high ISOs fairly well so I was still able to get my shutter up to about 1/200s with an ISO of 6400

Five stars: It arrived on time, properly packaged, which prevents possible quality issues. The item is indistinguishable from brand new except for the packaging. Sharp as a tack for my commercial needs, real estate, medium range APS-C. I also have a Tokina 11-16 which is why I chose the 12-28 for just a slightly narrower field of view with less edge fall off.

Sharp images quick focusing (although noisy) the HSM feature would be advantageous for most uses other than landscapes. Heavy and clunky but I think I could drop if off my roof and it would still function. Several reviews indicated zoom creep when pointing down. I've not had an issue with this. As with my other Sigma zooms, great blend of quality and value

Tokina's 12-24/4 DX lens has long been a good choice for crop-sensor cameras, especially if you did not want to spend the money for the Nikon or Canon equivalent. But now Tokina has kept the same great performance and offered even more range with the 12-28/4 AT-X Pro lens. The excellent design and good glass is still there, and now it provides a bit more reach. Great for undistorted landscapes and interiors, plus group shots. Fine for travel too, I use mine on a Nikon D300s and the overall handling feels stable and well balanced.
