No-brainer upgrade to the 870 MIM extractor... As easy as it gets to replace the cheap-a$$ Remington MIM extractor. This is the #1 1st upgrade any serious shotgunner does to their 870, and it's SO bloody easy, NO dis-assembly required. Just google 870 extractor replacement, but DO NOT pull the bolt from the gun, pull it back halfway in the ejection port for access and follow the instructions - seriously, it took me all of 5 minutes, and I'm an certified idiot...

Check the fitment on the gun after install. It may stick out further than original extractor and cut a groove into the receiver. If you feel any resistance from the extractor when working the slide, you need to file it down or get gunsmith to fit it. It is a tiny groove and shouldn't hurt anything but it is possible.

I was having trouble with my 870 tactical ejecting. I polished the chamber and replaced the MIM ejector with this Volquartsen Exact Edge Extractor. My 870 cycles perfectly now, no more stuck shells, regardless of the brand or the material. I can rest at ease that the gun will work flawlessly now. The part dropped right in, no fitting or adjustments needed.

It works well,,,,better machining,,,easy install,,,, without any gun dissasembly. I am building a better Rem 870 for turkey hunting . I have added front and rear green dot sights and a trigger fix kit as well as polishing the chamber end of the barrel . The Volquartsen extractor adds to durability and positive function. Also a Magpul stock which adds to length of pull for better gun fit and sighting. I recommend the Volquartsen part as a decent upgrade. Add a Cremator choke tube and its ready for duck season. A shoulder strap is also useful feature to free your hands for steering a boat and open/closing fence gates.

The Volquartsen Remington 870 Shotgun Exact Edge Extractor F16176 Upgrade is s very good quality item which is a bit pricy but then again it is a machined high quality steel precision made part. That being said, I purchased it as an insurance policy for my grandkids. The original 870 shotguns will be highly sought after in coming years and since I put about 50 to 75 rounds through it every year, I want to pass it along in great working condition. A $25. investment, just in case the very good steel Remington part fails, this will make certain the extractor works well. A good investment, and I recommend. By the way, its pretty easy to install and by sliding the bolt forward of the frame, far enough to access the extractor, you really do not have to remove the bolt.
