this replacement opener exceeds all my expectations and time will tell me about its durability.
I purchase this device to replace another that we got through QVC quite a while ago. Truth is that the old one performed very well, was compact and had plenty of power. After years of service the main cutting gear finally wore out. When we got this new one I found it to be quite powerful and with only 2 AA batteries (the other required 4). Like the other, once placed on the can it freely operated until the cover was completely cut open. The magnet is placed in the exact spot to enable ease in lifting the cut lid off the can. The thumb slide switch is automated to suffice the complete cutting of the lid, accurate turn off of the motor and the lid release. The size is just right for a normal hand grip. Very recommendable!

Defective Product!
The item I received that worked for few times, then, the cutting blade starting to shift to the side and stuck until I used my hand to pull forward. then, it went forward, and stop, I pushed again, it went little forward again,did this many times until it cut through the can. WOW, so difficult to use this helper to open the can. I believe it is defective product. I deserve to have refund back!

We love our Handy can opener!
We have tried 3 different brands of battery operated can openers and this one is the best! We both have arthritis in our hands and this is perfect for us. Don't bothered with any other brand. We've found this one does what it advertises it does truly is "Handy"! We even bought one for my parents who are in their 80s. It took them a couple of tries with my husband there but once they got the feel of it, they got rid of all the other can openers. They were so appreciative!

CAN OPENER
It’s not very powerful. It melted the first 2 batteries we put in it!!!! It doesn’t go around by itself when opening the can. Also very difficult to release the lid of the can . I almost gym my fingers taking the lid off manually. I had recommended it to my daughter but then I changed my mind.
