This MFJ 959C Antenna Tuner with Preamp works great. I have two antennas a 150 ft. long wire and a 30 ft. vertical, this tuner tunes them to several radios I have. The preamp is a great thing it amplifies the signal before it even gets to the radios, this is a big help also. I wish I had bought this a long time ago. The switches the tuner has makes it quick to change between the two antennas. The tuner also has switches that makes it easy to change between two radios, bypass the tuner completely or turn off the amplifier for testing. I am even able to use it with good results to tune the AM Broadcast band which I listen to also. I do recommend this for shortwave HF frequency listeners. 1.6-30MHz

Uses 500ma 9-18v DC. I use 12v. Rf gain is quieter them on my Tecsun s-2000. No hand capacitance problems. Smooth tuning, good tough knobs. Using a ground mounted vertical resonant at 15mhz with buried radials /coax. Big improvements mostly in lower bands but less responsive over 25 mhz. Rids pesky interference too. L setting usually a-d for me with variable capacitors doing most of the work. Buy , you'll end up a winner too. You may not need to apply gain as signal tuned in is sufficient. More gain than is needed but depending on antenna, use gain over 25mhz. Works awesome all the way down to 120m band, your inductance is to the right then. My antenna has zero traps and I'm happy just with the tuner.
