Great, very smart charger that takes very good care of my batteries
This charger is a great deal -- it has brought some of my poorly performing batteries back from the dead, and does a great job at charging and conditioning them. It's pretty straightforward to use if you're not geeky about batteries, and incredibly powerful and fun if you are. I really appreciate how much information it gives me throughout the process. The displays are useful and informative. My only quibble is that it can be a little tricky to set complex combinations of modes on different batteries, but who does that, anyway? With only four buttons, the interface is can be a little bit unintuitive, but not worth knocking off a star for. I'll take this over my (fried) LaCrosse any day, and I generally prefer it over my Maha charger if I'm doing 4 or fewer batteries. Cant trust the mah numbers or time charging batteries
Can't trust the numbers mah charge or discharge at all, is way over or under the mah rating for the battery. Sometimes the battery is still dead after charging shows complete. Best Smart Charger In It's Class
I've kept an eye on rechargeable batteries and smart chargers for a long time and finally took the plunge and made the investment. I've compared with the Maha and LaCross chargers and found the Opus V2.2 is not only the best value, but also the best choice among smart chargers of this size used primarily for AA and AAA batteries (C and D batteries being optional). This unit has been refined and there are NO quirks using the interface or of "endless" button pushing required by some others. It offers just about any option you could want in charging, measuring capacity and "restoring" you could want in a charger and it does it well at any practical charge/discharge rate you could want and does it as easily as can practically be done with four independent charging slots. Also, I have to date, found no heat issues at all using this unit, which speaks well of its electronics and the build quality seems very good as well. I used it with 20 batteries so far.
It is a wonderful product that allow you to be specific with what you intend to achieve. It had repaired low capacities by draining the batterie a bit to save time instead of discharging completely. The reason I removed one star is because 2 batteries became very hot et showed a capacity much higher than what they are reported capable of. I caught it on time. Would they have exploded ? Was it the fault of the battery or the charger ? What was the heat sensor doing ? Other batteries put in the same slots behaved properly.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

The solution to my problems.
I would give 5 stars but I only have 2 other chargers to compare to. Both energizers. One charges slow, which is good in my book. But it can only charge in pairs, which causes it to overcharge one battery if they are not totally balanced. My other charger is a fast charger, which is less desirable in my book, but can charge individually. It won't charge if it thinks something is wrong. Great to charge my headlamps

Has worked on several sets and non-"sets" of batteries. The Test option gives me the remainingcharge with the option to display in kWh's so I can tell if a rechargeable battery is losing its oomph. Refresh worn out NiMh & Nicd batteries
