1488V 1966 chevelle hood latch pin from ChromeDepot
the center mounting hole off quite a bit so I filed the hole oblong to get it to line up to the three mounting holes on a stock 1966 chevelle hood, then filed the other two holes to get some adjustment to line up pin to latch hole, after bolting to hood I closed the hood but hood still loose , raising up. To get pin to further adjustment I cut the adjusting nut in half, which helped but still too loose. Upon comparing this reproduction part to the stock part, the pin is too long and does not angle back toward firewall as the stock unit does. I own five 1966 chevelles and needed two latch pin setups, I ordered a used original which was fine and this 1488V repop which was not for a 1966 chevelle. !966 and 1967 are the same hood latch pin. 1965 chevelle the pin sits on an approximate 2 inch tall box with four mounting holes. I have a degree in Industrial education with an extended major in power mechanics, taught school for 27 years and college for five, have done twelve frame off restorations. This part 1488V latch pin might be for a 1968/1969 chevelle as it is definitely not for a 1966. $37.00 plus my time wasted because some one is selling this part and has not tried bolting one on after complaints from other customers. Have a good 2017, R/S Dal Vandiver
