It provides a detailed overview of the rail industry and features a reprint of the original book. The hardcover format and 295 pages make it a valuable addition to any transportation enthusiast's collection.
It is an awesome book. It covers the reason for self propelled railcars, the Budd Co entry into the self propelled railcar, history of the RDC railcar, the final railcar (the SPV 2000), & Budd Co closing for good. It also lists the railroads that purchased the RDC, where they ran them with maps of routes, when they sold them, second hand purchasers, & dispositions. I have 3 Proto 2000 RDCs lettered for the NP. A great book for learning about the Budd RDC.
