Retelling the life story of the physicist who headed up the lab which developed the A-bomb, this is a long, character-focused meditation on the relative value of scientific research and discovery, the justice—and injustice—of American Cold War politics and the neverending challenges of balancing personal commitments against unbridled ambition. Featuring a star-studded cast, this is also a typical Nolan film, meaning it features pathbreaking cinematography, complex and nuanced storytelling…and sometimes less than stellar soundscaping. All in all, this is must-see cinema for anyone interested in the American experience of WWII or wanting to understand the realities of living in a world with nuclear weapons. FIVE STARS

Review will have spoilers: I was interested in seeing the film after I saw the trailer. I think the film is fine, OK, but not as good as others have said it is. The film does a good job telling the story of Oppenheimer. I knew nothing about him before hand. To me, it is not as good as claimed. Things I did not like about the film: 1. The jumping back and forth in the story. 2. Black & white to color scenes. Got on my nerves. 3. Waste of Oscar winning talent. Damon is an Oscar winner but not for acting. The actors with an acting Oscar were wasted in tiny roles. 4. My top complaint, the UNNECESSARY female nudity. What did this add to the story for a topless actress? We the viewers & actors deserve better than this. 5. Too long.
