NotesJapanese remastered pressing. If you grew up in the '70s or have a child with favorite CDs/DVDs or just love Carole King, you must know Pierre; Alligators All Around, One Was Johnny, and Chicken Soup with Rice. King's music for the 1975 Really Rosie TV special makes for a fantastic album for adults as well as kids, not even needing those Maurice Sendak illustrations to thoroughly charm. This import-only release has those addictive songs plus Really Rosie; Avenue P, and the rest of the original LP plus four songs dropped from the original soundtrack!
Had the album as a child, got the CD for my kids when they were growing up. Spent many happy days singing and dancing in my room with my sister, then many years singing with my kids in the car. Now I happily bought it for my best friend’s daughter as she is expecting her first. I need to load up as I feel this along with Maurice Sendak’s Nutshell Library books are an essential for every child. Love it, love it, love it.
I remember watching Really Rosie when it came on tv. I LOVED akl Maurice Sendak's books and this was like a visual story book. I've looked for years and finally found this on CD. I raised my kids on these songs and the stories. They are adults, but we were singing along together. We remembered all of the words to the songs, too🙂
This album is a family favorite, by which I mean - I, my children, and grandchildren, know the lyrics to every song on this album because we have listened to it so often. There is nothing like the voice of Carole King and there are no better lyrics then those of Maurice Sendak! I guarantee this album will be loved and probably given as gifts to those who are young at heart!
