For a 500mm lens this is a short, compact design. Waited for months to finally get one as they are in high demand. I have a 500mm f4, which is much larger and heavier. The wider aperture of the f4 provides better subject isolation. The smaller lens (f5.6) is easier to carry and is a great, cheaper alternative to the f4.
