Loosens under firing!
The locking mechanism on this light/ laser is useless. It does come with various attachment for different firearms but that is not the problem. Weapon lights, by their nature are subjected to heavy recoil. Because of this they need to "lock' into the recesses in the rail by having a steel bar through them. All the streamlight has is a tension bar that pulls the claws either side of the rail which does not provide enough pressure to stop the light moving and falling off as you are shooting. I fired about 10 rounds from my 9mm CZ P10C (factory ammo, not plus P) before I noticed the torch had almost come off. Tightened it and tried again, same thing. In my mind a definite design fault by Streamlight, I would have thought such an expensive product from such a well thought of company would do better. The pictures I have taken are of the Streamlight TLR-8G, which has a flat surface attachment at the rail and two other rail attachments (FAB defence bipod and Magpul Angled fore grip) which have a raised bar designed to go into the rail slots and stop the device from falling off under pressure.

poor gun attachement
The light attachment can not resist the recoil of a 22lr. I purchased it for a Ruger 1911 in 45acp, mounted per instruction with the recommended shim. One round, the light was on the ground. Moved it to my sig 22lr, one 10 round mag, and the light is on the ground. very poor retention! The unit has three modes, light, laser, light and laser. you cycle the mode by pushing the button, whatever mode you last select is the mode it returns to on the next start. could be a problem if you want to start with laser but the light comes on. The light is bright and illuminates the room well, the laser can be seen in day light out to 15 feet. The model 8 misses the mark completely.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Keeps falling off
The insert Included with the TLR8 shows insert key 1913-1. I’ve put it on 3 times, twice with lock-tight blue. It keeps falling off and is now scratched where it has hit the concrete. I called stream light. They had no idea they put an insert in to suggest a size. They did suggest 1913-3. I’ll try again. The e clips that were included are now deformed. For the money - nothing better for a handgun
